Laurie asked me to send some photos to you from a show she and Austins Wolfe attended yesterday with the Plantation Acres Saddle Club. After working through some “Thoroughbred moments” during warm up the team did a great job and won three blue ribbons, one red ribbon and the Reserved Championship in Green Hunter.

After a somewhat inauspicious departure from the farm due to “Lefty” crashing through a tubular metal gate (he is fine, Josh has another project)… we set off…
It was a cool morning, 50ish degrees, so everyone was frisky…
We worked for about 45 minutes to get used to the ring again….. and managed to avoid running over any girls on ponies in the warm up melee.
For our official showing reentry I opted for the 2’ green division.
Warm up class was just that… and we did not do that well…. With a refusal.
The first OF Green class he was great and we got our groove on….. and won a blue!
Second class we were on track for another until Mom forgot the course and we got DQ… bummer.
Flat class we nailed and we got a second blue!
For the second, firsts we earned Reserve……

We went in a Addback Hunter Hack class (my trainer saw dollar signs and put us in) and a flat equitation for more experience in the ring with others……
He won the hack class….. and I placed second in the equitation.
We came home tired but feeling good…..
He nailed all his leads, and his changes on course. We have been working on the right lead, sometimes we miss at home, I think because my left leg is weak. But we nailed them at the show.
Next week is another show – different circuit but we will probably go in Greens at 2’3” or Low Hunter at 2’3”.
We are both still tired today and I am giving him the day off!
He continues to get compliments as we were warming up at various times.
Josh was taking pictures when the judge initiated a casual conversation and was also complimentary of his free front end / shoulder action and nice tracking (at the trot).
I did remind Josh that unlike car events, typically one does not talk up the judge; however Josh let me know the male judge reached out to him.
