Learn About Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds from Their New Owners After Racing

This site was created to tell the true stories of former race horses who have now moved onto second careers as sport horses. The stories are written by their new owners in their words. These off-the-track Thoroughbreds are family horses and show horses.
These Thoroughbreds are ridden in English tack and Western tack. They compete in dressage, combined training/eventing, hunter/jumper and some are just pleasure horses enjoyed by children, adults and grandparents.

Hollywood Vic Is In Hiding

Mar2009

I was inspired to write a small update this afternoon after reading the update on the “A” team! How sweet. I think the photo of Tucks St. Aly rolling looks much like Miss Sydney rolling around on the grass last Saturday! Yes, I did get teary eyed reading their story and thinking about how much these Thoroughbreds are just big dogs!

Today I went to the barn to visit Hollywood Vic before the rains come into Georgia. I mindlessly walked to the back pasture where he usually is grazing with Bubba. As I approached the gate where the halters hang, I noticed his halter was not there. I saw a Chestnut way back in the pasture, paused, and thought how in the heck did someone mix up his halter when it has his name on it?

After a few seconds, I hear the thunder of hooves behind me, I turn and there is my Hollywood galloping up towards me in the pasture behind me. I said, “THERE YOU ARE!” He looked at me, spun around and ran back up to the door of the barn (that leads to the pasture he was in ) and waited for me! Now how smart is that? He saw me walk by and came to tell me to come and get him! That just made my day, no my week, no my month!

Thoroughbreds love their owners. Just read a few of our Success Stories and you will see the same story over and over. Read the latest Light Artillery Success Stories. He was gotten off-the-track by Bits & Bytes Farm in 2005. He is now called “Maverick”.
