Learn About Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds from Their New Owners After Racing

This site was created to tell the true stories of former race horses who have now moved onto second careers as sport horses. The stories are written by their new owners in their words. These off-the-track Thoroughbreds are family horses and show horses.
These Thoroughbreds are ridden in English tack and Western tack. They compete in dressage, combined training/eventing, hunter/jumper and some are just pleasure horses enjoyed by children, adults and grandparents.

OTTB Pony Clubber’s Meet at Event in Arizona

Oct2010

Gold's Anatomy with mom Laura and new friend Cait (Taxi's mom).

Hi Elizabeth,
This is just a quick note to let you know we met Laura and Gold’s Anatomy at the Grass Ridge Horse Trial in Sonoita, AZ. I’ve attached a  picture of the girls and ‘Riley’. Laura has done an impressive job with him. They are a very competitive pair.

Taxi is doing awesome.  She’s settled in, no bossy behavior. Cait is riding her and asking her to give and bend a bit as they walk, trot and canter. She isn’t doing too much other than checking out what, if any buttons Taxi has. She has commented she thinks Taxi is really smart and wonders if Taxi found racing boring and if she’ll enjoy the demands of 3-Day Eventing more.  She starts lessons this week with the dressage trainer.  I’ll keep you posted on their progress.

I hope all is well with you.

Tina

Laura and Cait (Tax Hike aka “Taxi”) need to join up with our third Pony Club rider in Arizona  – Molly (Anitoch). Molly was already friends with Laura. She got Anitoch after Laura got Gold’s Anatomy.
