I’m sorry it has taken me so long to send you an update on Rap It Up. When I got Rap, we had a very busy late summer and early fall preparing for the rapidly approaching hunting season, which was to be Rap’s first. I can’t say enough good things about him. It is perfectly normal for any young horse not to do very well their first few hunts, due to all the sights, sounds, other horses and the hounds that are associated with foxhunting, there are a lot of distractions, to say the least. Rap handled it all like an old pro. He has taken everything in stride and has an excellent disposition. Even when he was fresh off the track, he was very easy to handle, and that carried right over into his first season as a foxhunter.

The attached photo was taken during our annual hunt week which is always a very busy time. In the photo Rap is doing a good job as a staff horse, even on a cold miserable February day in a pouring rain! This was taken 5 months after I got him from the track!

He is a very laid back horse with a “been there done that” attitude. My wife who is an inexperienced rider has ridden him quite a bit and loves his desire to please. He proved to be a bit too laid back to be used as a staff horse, kinda like his racing career, but he has a good future ahead of him here as a field hunter.

Rap easily made the transition from the track and is now living the good life in Alabama.
