Jumping for Joy

Just wanted to let you know that Molly has started working with her trainer to teach Antioch to jump! He is doing fabulous so far, very willing. We moved our little group of friends to a private home/boarding location which has worked out so well. It is the four of us (our friends and their horses and our trainer). We have a great lighted arena and a beautiful barn and the horses get pasture turn out three days a week! Antioch is so happy! He has filled out and is just beautiful.

Whos Cindy Sue – A Future Show Jumper!

Whos Cindy Sue is learning lots of new skills.

Whos Cindy Sue is doing well! We started lunge training this week, and she caught on quickly! I think I may have found my jumper because she jumped out of her turnout last week (it was feeding time!) the fence is four feet, and she cleared it. She has gained 40 pounds and looking more shiny everyday. She gets breakfast/lunch/dinner as well as free choice hay, at first she didn’t know what to do with all the food, but she has taken to her bucket like a champ.  I plan on lunging her for the month of August to help build up her muscles since she is so lean and young, I want her back strong before I get on her at the end of the month, so we are just doing ground work. We have conquered the crossties, she lets me clip her muzzle, and she loves bubble baths…she is a sweetheart!

Not all Thoroughbreds off-the-track know how to cross tie. Always remember this if you purchase one.

More Firsts! Canter, Trail Ride, Jump

I realize now how amiss I am that I’m letting my story be turned in so long after the event, but I’ve been trying to take every minute of time I have here to enjoy it before I head home. . . Miss Sydney is coaching Alex on what to write . . . "Tell them about cantering for the first time . . ."

Howdy Finally!
So Aly boy and I have two big accomplishments to report! First of all, the first canter day before yesterday; and yes, I realize now how amiss I am that I’m letting my story be turned in so long after the event, but I’ve been trying to take every minute of time I have here to enjoy it before I head home.

Cantering Tucks St. Aly for the first time.

I didn’t expect that we would canter so soon, but I was really excited, and I know I was extremely tensed up and I could tell Aly was being a bit pushy for one of the first times since I’ve seen him, when we were trotting on the longe line, waiting for me to be ready. It was so incredible for me to see how after we got into that first canter, how he calmed down, back to the business-like, happy boy that he is. He KNEW that we were ready to step up to the next level, and he didn’t want any backing out on my part! Read the rest of this entry »

Barbo and Erica Thrilled with First Jump – and Their Close Partnership

This is long overdue, but I wanted to say “thank you,” Elizabeth and Barry, for helping me make one of my childhood dreams come true.  Ever since I can remember I have dreamed of having a horse and hoped that one day it would be fulfilled. You have no idea how happy, excited, and thrilled I am to finally to say my dream has been fulfilled by a very special horse named Barbo.

From the first time I saw him he stole my heart as well as my family’s and I knew he was special. With each following visit, I fell more in love with Barbo and knew he was the horse that was going to fulfill the dream that I had for so long. Having Barbo in my life has made me feel so very complete and content.

I also wanted to say “thank you so very much” for making this experience so pleasant and wonderful. I never imagined that I would be as lucky to meet such a special horse, but two special people in the process. You both have shown so much kindness, compassion, dedication and warmth to both me and my family and I appreciate that from the bottom of my heart.

Now for an update….over the past months I can feel that my bond with Barbo has grown stronger and the trust between us has increased by leaps and bounds. Getting to know and understand him has been an incredible experience. He is my oasis when I need to relax and get away. All I need to do is take one look into those big brown eyes and feel the soft nuzzles on my neck to know that everything is going to be ok.
