Wolfie Moves Up to 3′
Hi all!
This weekend Austin’s Wolf and I did our second 3′ show to get more experience under our belts.
We were not as fit as I would have liked – holidays and family visits through off our schedule and we did not have a show in December.
Started with a Friday night schooling in gale force winds with about 15 horses in the ring all jumping every which way….. took us longer working than I wanted to settle.
Saturday was a nice day and we had a couple good rounds….
Sunday we were both tired and had two flat classes and a couple more over fences.
We placed, but not as well as I would have liked the second day……
Attached are a couple of pictures from my resident photographer Josh.
Hugs to everyone!
Laurie

Mr Inquisitive/Mr. Wonderful – One Year Later
Dear Elizabeth,
I am not a good e-mailer and I apologize. There have been many times when I’ve thought of you and Becky in the past year. (Can’t believe it’s been a year). I bought Mr. Inquisitive from you when he was 3 years old last December. He has been such a pleasure. I have been taking it slow with his training since I am in no hurry and he seemed to benefit from this approach. He is an excellent jumper-my trainer loves him. He uses himself very correctly and is nice and steady. We’ve gone to a number of shows just to hang out and then to eventually school. It’s paid off.
I ‘ve been riding him myself since the first time we tacked him up and I have to admit I was a little nervous. At 57 I was asking myself what was I doing!! He could have been so different but he has taken such good care of me. I will send you some pictures when I get a little technical help with that one.
Thanks for putting in all the time and effort to make a difference for so many horses and people. I couldn’t be happier. Happy Holidays!!
Warmest wishes,
Suzie Jacobson

Wolfie Goes Hollywood . . . or . . .YouTube at Least
Hi Elizabeth,
Here’s the latest in our series of Wolfie & Laurie videos at horse shows. Wolfie continues to improve and develop, and the team earned 3 blues and 1 red plus division champion at a local show. It was their first competition at 3’!
See Austin’s Wolf’s video on YouTube.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and Barry.

Austin’s Wolf is “Reserved” at Seven
Hi Elizabeth and Barry,
We did our usual Hunters on Saturday and Equitation on Sunday, doing well in light of the fact that riding has been hit or miss for a couple of weeks due to work and weather. Despite only getting in one ride this week leading up to the show, Wolfie was a good boy. He put in a great schooling round on Friday night and solid rounds on Saturday. For some reason he was very leery of the show photographer set up. Not our best day, but we still won reserve. Sunday we redeemed ourselves with a blue in the flat class and reserve there as well.
He has matured now – being 7…. (I can’t believe it!) He had no problem with any of the show today…. Worked through the left over water from a monsoon yesterday afternoon that flooded everything. No problem trotting or cantering through it.
I think he is ready to move up to 3’…. And we will most likely target some rated shows this season.
The trot shot is our warm up for the eq. – yes it is still HOT here….
The jump shot is nice of him doing his job… looking in pretty good form I think but I may be a tad biased.
Hope all is well…

Run Around Gal – Retires the Broodmare Trophy at Upperville!
Well pride has gotten the best of me and I had to share.
I took Allie, barn name for Run Around Gal, to Upperville for the broodmare class, as a Hunter Breeding handler saw her here (in Atlanta) and thought she could win, thus retire the broodmare trophy for a woman who had won it two times before — she needed one more win to retire it.
SO the woman leased Allie for the show. Well Allie WON the class, retired the trophy and the lady was so happy.
Then Allie went in the Cismont Manor Farm Challenge Trophy, open to all the breeding class winners, from the broodmares to the 3 yr olds, and Allie was reserve champion in that !!
And she hadn’t been off the farm except to be bred in the 2 yrs we’ve owned her!! Her first show ever! And she was picked to be drug tested by USEF. No drugs in her ever!! Here’s a link to a picture of me ringside with my friend and another photo of my girl (Run Around Gal)!! Anyway thought you would enjoy knowing how well she’s done.
Run Around Gal’s offspring is number 1 in the nation for yearlings in hunter breeding BTW.
Enjoy!
The I-Man Confidence Jumps
Well Irish Morning Mist and I had a fun filled weekend attending the progressive show jumping horse show in Aiken. It was “I-Man’s” first show back and our goal was to just get use to the atmosphere and all the commotion. He was very behaved and seem to enjoy the courses and jumps that he was faced with. Although he still has some kinks to work on, like the camera guy isn’t going to attack him and that the timers aren’t scary monsters, he is steadily progressing. We did the 2′6″ and 3′ classes to raise his confidence and as something he could easily handle. All the trainers had their eye on him and think he will be a real competitor within a few months. We plan on taking a break from showing till the end of August just because the heat is awful. I will definitely keep you guys updated as we continue down the road of success!
Happy riding!

Fast Commander Get the Blues at “A” Show
Fast Commander did three days of our local “A” show over the past two weekends. We competed in the Long Stirrup division to stay at two feet. This was all in the indoor arena, which seems to have a very soothing effect on “Commander”. He acted like he had been doing this his whole life, despite a crowded warm up ring, judges, clapping, lots of flowers and fill on the jumps. The only conflict we had was over braiding. He is not a fan of this, so he only had a braided mane one of the days. We will have to work on this more when time allows. He really was a pleasure to show.
He won two of the over fences classes, got a 4th in the flat, and had a variety of other ribbons along the way. The best thing is that he seems to enjoy being ridden and enjoy jumping. We are already jumping a bit higher at home and working on flying changes. He now practically hops in the trailer by himself if I crinkle a peppermint wrapper and then stands there with his mouth open for his treat!

Colorful Weekend for OTTB Austin’s Wolf
Well “Wolfie”, Austin’s Wolf, did great this weekend. The first day was hunter day and the second, equitation. Over the weekend, we won three firsts, three seconds, Reserve Amateur Adult 2’6” Hunter and Grand Amateur 2’5” Equitation.
He is really getting consistent with his pace and distances. A little bit left to do – I need to get him to have the long low comatose look on the flat for the under saddle which is sad because I would not want to hunt a horse that way. Anyway, that is what they pin for now at least.

Vilas County “Places” in the Jumper Class
Dear Elizabeth,
Last Saturday we went to the Poplar Place schooling show. Vilas County was awesome.
As soon as I had him tacked up and we went down to the warm up arena he immediately knew that he had been there before. He was totally relaxed, calm and the easiest horse ever.
He went his first round clear and placed 2nd in the 2′6″ jumper class. Sadly he had one rail down in the 2′11″ class. But anyway he was my superstar. I’m so proud of him. He handled everything so easy and was absolutely well mannered. We had lots of fun! Read the rest of this entry »
